"I got it from my grandma"
Recently my oldest daughter convinced me that I should get AncestryDNA tested.
So I naturally asked,
"Like Wisdom Panel for Dogs?"
and she said
"yes"
So I have sent away for my own panel thingy
to spit into
so we can find out
where exactly in the world
Our family came from.
Im pretty sure we are related to the Siberian Ice Maiden.
One thing for certain though
is through old family photos
I have found where my equine DNA comes from....
This is my Grandma Helen.
I remember her most as
my happy little (5'0 and not a hair more) grandma
who would feed you LOTS of food.
Even if you werent hungry.
Remember that post I wrote about my Uncle Eddie?
Well this is Uncle Eddie's mom.
And Busia's daughter.
Remember Busia?
Shes my great Grandma.
GREAT! Grandma
Shes where i got my fashion sense from.

:)
Anyhow,
when my Grandpa Leo was courting my Grandma Helen,
he apparently was willing to do anything...
Look where my Great Grandpa Joseph & Busia
put my Grandpa Leo in this photo.
My Grandpa Leo was a city boy.
And apparently my Great grandpa Joseph knew this.
uhmmm.
Its never a good thing to stand behind a horse
while not looking at it.
or even looking at it.
you be in danger, boy.
But thats okay,
My grandpa Leo still tried to win my Grandma Helen's heart.
Here they are making him feed their geese and ducks with a fancy tie on...
Dang. Thats love.
Anyhow, my Grandpa Leo liked having those fancy Automobiles.
But he knew
My Grandma Helen wasnt impressed with that.
He knew her heart.
So when they were married,
He bought her
an off the track Standardbred Race horse!
NOW THATS LOVE!
Busia and Great Grandpa Joseph must have been impressed...
So while Grandpa Leo was driving the kids around
(thats my dad & my aunt!)
My grandma Helen was the hit of the neighborhood!
Look at her, all dressed up with her friends!
And shes only got one hand on those reins!
All the neighbor ladies would hit Grandma Helen up for a ride into town.
My dad told me that Grandma's horse
hated being behind anything.
So it was a very fast ride into town.
Kind of like a supersonic horse-train version.
That must explain why his ears are back.
Breaking the speed limits do that to a horse.
Grandma Helen liked speed.
But Busia's Brother,
Uncle Tony,
liked his horses big and strong...
And that makes sense
because he ran a logging outfit
up in the Northwoods of Wisconsin!
But my Grandma Helen really liked her horse best.
She would even show off to the city relatives
and give wagon rides!
She was so equine savvy
that she had different wagons for different chores!
Look how shes sitting, holding those reins.
She was a confident horseman.
So even without the results
from an AncestryDNA test,
I know for sure
where I got my horseman DNA!
Thanks Grandma Helen!!
XOXOX
