one last love

it was not the way you left this world
no, on the contrary,
it was the way you entered into our life
taking over our heart day by day, moment by moment
until the thought of you leaving too soon
made us frightened
of being without you...

these last days may have been longing thoughts full of memories,
but our first days, oh our middle days,
how can we forget those?

Those days of endless Summers,
brisk Autumns of falling colors,
long Winters of joyful bounding,
those new Spring promises
of exciting adventures yet to come
we shared them all, together, year by year.

we will never forget, nor forget you.

And now,

I must whisper one last love
to an ear that listened for my voice faithfully

"thank you dear friend, for you made me strong; I am no longer afraid"

 - for I know this to be true -

 you will arrive before me

you will be smiling,

and waiting.

waiting for me, like always.

  22. Oh. Heartache. Like you I lost a little pony and my beloved dog in the past few months. It knocks you down for a long while. We are so lucky to share some of our lives with them but oh my goodness it hurts when they go. Thinking of you.

  31. If you loved your animals half as much as comes through in your writing, they were lucky to have you as their human. Memories are forever...

I am feral, so although I dont respond at all like most domesticated bloggers, I will try my best - Thank you for even wanting to leave a comment, as it may draw me out from the woods from whence I came!

Or under a rock, it depends most days...
